CHARACTER COUNTS! for We Are GUTSY, Inc. and our mentors, educators and students are celebrating in Guyana.
Our team of mentors, educators and children will join the rest of the world to celebrate CHARACTER COUNTS! week October 15 – 21 with activities that demonstrate the importance of teaching character development skills, using strategies and resources that help improve students’ character, social-emotional, and academic skills and influence school climate.
Providence Primary, Malgre Tout Primary, Stella Maris, Meten Meer Zorg Islamic Academy, Jo’Sel Education Institute, and St. Margaret’s Primary along with three recent additions to the program, Stewartville Primary, Paramakatoi Primary and Moshabi Primary to celebrate the week with a ceremonial “Hanging of the Banners” ceremony at their schools. The banners represent the Six Pillars of Character, Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenshipship taught and reinforced in the schools to build students’ character skills and shape a positive school culture.
